dc.description.abstractBu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye'de 1970'lerde siyasal etkinlik gösteren gençlik hareketlerini kapsamına alan "78 Kuşağı"nın toplumsal belleğini incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda kuşak ve toplumsal bellek kavramları üzerine sosyal bilim literatürlerinden kaynaklar incelenmiş, seçilen kuşak üyeleriyle sözlü tarih yöntemleri kullanılarak mülakatlar gerçekleştirilmiş, kuşağın yaşantısını yansıtan romanlar ve Birgün Gazetesi'nden derlenmiş olan, kuşağın anılarını işleyen haber ve yorumlar çözümlenmiştir. Kavramsal çerçevenin en önemli bileşenleri kuşak, toplumsal tecrübe, toplumsal bellek ve bellek mekanı kavramlarıdır. Bu kavramlar, Karl Mannheim, Walter Benjamin, Maurice Halbwachs, Pierre Nora'nın tanımlarından esinlenilerek görgül malzemenin gerekleri doğrultusunda yorumlanarak dönüştürülmüştür. Çalışma, genel olarak kuşağa özgü yaşam akışını gözeterek siyasal sosyalleşme, toplumsal ve siyasal çalışmalar ve kuşağın etkinliğini bitiren askeri darbenin ardından gelen gözaltı, hapishane ve direniş tecrübeleri üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to investigate the social memory of "Generation of 78" which comprises the politically active youth movements of 1970s Turkey. In acccordance with this aim, sources from social sciences literature about generation and social memory were studied; interviews with the members of the Generation were made; and novels representing the Generation?s experiences were analyzed, along with the news and articles about the Generation?s memories from the newspaper Birgün. The most important components of the conceptual framework are the concepts of generation, social memory, social experience and realms of memory. Drawn from Karl Mannheim, Walter Benjamin, Maurice Halbwachs, Pierre Nora, these concepts are interpreted and transformed in line with the necessities of the ampirical material. Pursuing the sequences of a common life-course peculiar to the members of Generation of 78, the study focuses on political socialization, social and political struggles, and life-contexts in 1970s, as well as on experiences of custody, imprisonment, fugitiveness and resistance following the 1980 military coup d'état which interrupted political activities of the Generation.
