While fulfilling this, it is also tried to determine whether there is any effect of the milieu where they had their primary school education, that of their parents’ educational and economic level with the formation of their narratives. As we know each student has to take part in the official school ceremonies during all his/her educational life. However, we do not have any opportunities to reach their experiences about these ceremonies in the written documents. The details we find are more limited with the children’s diaries, and autobiographies belonging to middle or upper income level families. Oral history methodology is one of the most important way to reach these experiences becoming meaningful with the childrens’ own words. Oral history that is used by a great many social sciencies like sociology, history and antropology has also been consulted to uncover the educational experiences of children recently. This study includes totally 32 interviews, two of which are for testing, including 15 women and 15 men who had their primary school education in 1980s.Bu çalışmanın amacı 1980 dönemi ilkokul öğrencilerinin okuldaki resmi törenlerle ilgili hatırlayabildiklerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu yapılırken, ilkokulu okudukları çevre, ailelerinin eğitim ve gelir düzeylerinin onların anlatılarının şekillenmesindeki payı da saptanmaya çalışılacaktır. Bildiğimiz her bir öğrenci tüm eğitim yaşamı boyunca bu törenlerde bulunma zorunluluğuna sahiptir ancak onların bu törenlere özgü yaşantılarını yazılı belgelerde bulma olanağımız neredeyse yoktur. Bulabileceğimiz ayrıntılar da daha çok bazı orta ve üst gelir grubuna ait aile çocuklarının günlük ve otobiyografileriyle sınırlıdır. Çocukların kendi ifadeleriyle anlam bulabilecek bu yaşantılara ulaşmanın en önemli yollarından birisi de sözlü tarih yöntemidir. Sosyoloji, tarih, antropoloji gibi pek çok sosyal bilim araştırmalarında kullanılan sözlü tarihine, son zamanlarda çocukların eğitim pratiklerini ortaya çıkarmada da başvurulmaktadır.
